Description

The Pingat Jasa Medal is a military service award instituted by the government of Malaysia in 2004 to recognize the service of military and police personnel from Commonwealth countries who served in Malaysia during the Malayan Emergency (1948-1960), the Indonesian Confrontation (1963-1966), and other operations in the region up to 31 December 1966.

To be eligible for the Pingat Jasa Medal, military and police personnel must have served in a qualifying area of operation, typically involving a minimum of 90 days of service on land or at sea, or 30 sorties for aircrew. The medal can be awarded to members of the armed forces and police from Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, and other eligible Commonwealth countries.

Design

The medal is designed as a circular cupronickel medallion, featuring a representation of the Malaysian crest on the obverse, with the words "Pingat Jasa Malaysia" inscribed below. The reverse of the medal displays the Malaysian coat of arms, symbolizing the unity and cooperation between Malaysia and the Commonwealth countries in defending their shared interests.

Ribbon

The ribbon of the Pingat Jasa Medal features three equally-sized stripes of red, white, and blue. The red stripe represents bravery and courage, the white stripe symbolizes purity and integrity, and the blue stripe signifies loyalty and dedication. The colors also reflect the close ties between Malaysia and the Commonwealth countries whose forces served during the qualifying operations.

The Pingat Jasa Medal serves as a symbol of the service and dedication of military and police personnel from Commonwealth countries who contributed to the defense of Malaysia and the preservation of peace and security in the region. It is a testament to their commitment, bravery, and cooperation, highlighting the importance of their role in maintaining stability during a critical period of history.

By doing so, the medals are given proper recognition and are displayed in a neat and organized fashion.
